When it comes to amazing geographical location, serenity, organization and well knit community, a few other towns can beat the magnificence of the municipality of Port Richey, Florida.
Beautiful Port Richey
Located on the mouth of Pithlachascotee River, just 25 miles northwest of Tampa, this tiny yet magnificent town is just 2.7 sq mi in area. Opening up on the Gulf of Mexico, the town forms part of Pasco County, Florida. With a very modest population of just 2761 individuals (2010 census), the town is a perfect abode of communal harmony and social equality.
Port Richey has a long continuous history of over 132 years and named after its first settler and founder, Aaron M. Richey, who was Port Richey’s first inhabitant in 1883. Port Richey was first incorporated as a municipality in 1925.
Around 1915, a separate post office named “New Port Richey” was designated for the southern part of Port Richey and now the area around Orange Lake is known as New Port Richey. The population has remained small all along and the proposal to abolish the city has survived many times through local voting.
Notwithstanding its small population, Port Richey shows every sign of a healthy vibrant community with complete compliment of its social amenities, services and interactive communal life. The city website is surprisingly vibrant with all the information you would ever need on the municipality of Port Richey from its past or upcoming social events, list of city administration department, town policies, city council announcements, environmental and social concerns, city guide, local bylaws, community calendar, online resident forums to discuss local issues and everything else.
The town is served with amenities and services. Its picturesque landscape, peaceful environment, almost nil crime rate, nice beaches and friendly population makes it an ideal tourist attraction if you intend to seek serenity and rest from rush of urban life.
Apart from local pubs, eateries and general stores, Gulf View Square is the prime enclosed mall and shopping spot in Port Richey.
All in all Port Richey is a peaceful small community of law abiding and socially aware people who are environmentally responsible and friendly. As an outsider you can enjoy the serenity, “SLOW DOWN OF LIFE” and healthy unpolluted environment on your next family location. You will find the local inhabitants welcoming, warm, friendly and eager to please.
